Ochazuke

Ochazuke (tea over cooked rice) is an excellent light meal for those hot summer days that you are too lazy to cook!

Serves 1

  • 50g smoked salmon*
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 1/2 tsp genmaicha
  • 1/2 cup vegetable stock
  • 1 small bowl warm cooked rice*

Directions

  1. Make tea broth by adding the hot water and vegetable stock to the tea leaves.
  2. In a bowl place the rice and lay the smoked salmon over the rice. Pour hot genmaicha over the rice. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Serve immediately.
  4. Serving suggestion: Top Ochazuke with corn, seaweed or thin strip of ham instead of smoked salmon.
