We finally had a welcome break recently in the Blue Mountains (off Sydney). It is a tourist attraction we had been several times. We wanted to hop off somewhere warmer, but with last minute planning, we ended up in Blue Mountains.
We were blessed with a warm winter day. The sun was beautiful and without our 2 young girls beside us, it was funnily enough, exceptional quiet!
We went to the quaint Leura village and found some fantastic books and stationery, including scratch and sniff chocolate stickers for the girls. And of course we had to stop as the Bygone Beauty’s Treasured Teapot Museum!
I love the signage…people don’t put much attention to these things these days. Opening the door, we entered a time of yester-year, with a huge collection of teapots with all kinds of style.
Sitting down for the afternoon tea, I ordered my favourite Assam black tea, but only to be disappointed again. This Assam like many we tried in many places, tasted more like a Sri Lankan black tea. It lacked strength, and certainly lacks the malty taste that Assam should have. At least the carrot soup was lovely
We wandered around Leura shops a bit more after that, then we were ready to head back to Lilianfels Hotel, a lovely place where just about everything was right…see next blog
