The classic smoky tea from China (Tarry) Lapsang Souchong is well known all around the world for its unique taste and aroma its very bold taste is often compared to the taste of cigar and smoked food.
Lapsang Souchong gets its smoky taste from the pine wood smoke. This unique way of "scenting" the tea makes a very different Lapsang Souchong to the more modernised "flavoured" version which is often sold at a lower price.
Tarry in French means "smoked"; Lapsang is the name of the origin of the tea in China and Souchong is the name of the particular tea tree (Camellia Sinensis) sub-species. If you like strong smoky tea such as Russian Caravan, Keemun and Gunpowder, then this is the tea for you!
